Reddick, 29, ranks among the NFL leaders with 50.5 sacks over the past four seasons. The product of Temple University had 27 sacks in two seasons with the Eagles, although just 11 this past season.

Reddick did not appreciate being asked to drop into coverage often when “defensive chief” Matt Patricia took over the defensive controls from coordinator Sean Desai, who was demoted with four games left in the regular season.

The third-round pick can become a second-round selection if Reddick reaches benchmarks. It’s a second-round draft pick, according to Jets Country, if Reddick plays 67.5% of the snaps and has 10 or more sacks.

The veteran Eagles pass rusher got his wish to be traded to a team that would pay him, the New York Jets ponying up a conditional third round draft pick in 2026 and according to NFL Network, are poised to sign him to a new contract. For now, the Jets are on the hook for the $14.5 million Reddick is due this season.

The writing was on the wall for Reddick when the Eagles handed Jets part-time pass rusher Byrce Huff a three-year, $51.1 million deal early in free agency. Huff said he expected to compete for a starting role on a defense with Josh Sweat a fixture on the right side and the Eagles expecting to get more use out of Nolan Smith, a first-round pick in the 2023 draft. With trade rumors hovering, Sweat reportedly took a pay cut to stick around with the Eagles.

Huff is making more than Reddick, who no longer ranks among the top 10 paid pass rushers in the NFL, a list topped by Nick Bosa ($34 million average). Maxx Crosby, No. 10 on the list, earns an average salary of $23.5 million.
