THE JAWN STORE

This is something the Phillies should consider.

Middleton has not hesitated to spend money so far, and if he believes Soto is the key piece for his franchise, he might be willing to invest even more.

Philadelphia may also have an edge over other teams, except the Yankees.

Soto has a fondness for hitting coach Kevin Long from their time together with the Washington Nationals, and he has strong relationships with several players on this roster, such as Harper and Turner.

By eventually meeting with the slugger, the Phillies are giving themselves a chance to acquire the best player on the market, who could significantly impact the team.

There has been speculation that the Philadelphia Phillies might be interested in Juan Soto this offseason. However, after their owner, John Middleton, mentioned that he believed the superstar slugger preferred to continue his career in New York, there were doubts about whether they would pursue him.

Soto is precisely the type of player the Phillies should target this winter, bringing an elite talent to their outfield who excels at getting on base and avoids striking out.

Adding him to the lineup for the next decade alongside Bryce Harper and Trea Turner would keep their championship prospects open for a long time, while also enabling them to compete for a World Series in the coming years with their current roster setup.

According to Jon Heyman of The New York Post, Philadelphia is planning to meet with the phenom, even though nothing is officially arranged yet.

This is a positive indication.

Soto has already met with several teams this offseason, including the New York Yankees, New York Mets, Boston Red Sox, and most recently, the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Contract projections for him have varied, but it is likely he will receive the second-richest contract in Major League Baseball history, with his agent, Scott Boras, potentially aiming to surpass Shohei Ohtani's AAV record.
