His exceptional performance caught the attention of many in the baseball world.

In his final third base power rankings of 2024, Joel Reuter of Bleacher Report ranked Bohm eighth among batters in the league.

"Despite his All-Star Game start and two years of club control remaining," Reuter noted, "Bohm is reportedly being made available for trade this offseason as the Phillies seek to make changes following an early playoff exit."

While many, including Reuter, believe that Bohm is on the trading block due to the team's desire to shake things up after the playoff disappointment, the reasons run deeper.

At 28, Bohm displays a volatile temperament, evident every time he takes the field.

Whether he makes an out or strikes out, he often reacts by slamming his bat, breaking it over his knee, or hitting himself in the helmet with it.

Manager Rob Thomson has frequently had to speak with Bohm between innings to address this behavior, but it seems to have little impact.

Following the playoff exit, Bohm was asked by the media if he felt his career was at a turning point. He replied, "No, I know where I'll be next year."

Bohm is a highly capable batter who can enhance any lineup.

Philadelphia recognizes this, but with his attitude and anger problems becoming more pronounced on the field and in the media, it is likely that he will be traded before becoming a disruption in the locker room.

Gone are the days when the Philadelphia Phillies consistently produced successful prospects like Chase Utley, Ryan Howard, and Jimmy Rollins.

The team now relies more on acquiring high-profile free agents such as Bryce Harper, Zack Wheeler, and Trea Turner to lead them to success.

Therefore, when a prospect is effectively developed, it garners significant attention.

Alec Bohm was selected by the Phillies in the first round of the 2018 MLB draft. Just two years later, during the shortened 2020 season due to COVID, he made a remarkable debut, hitting .338/.400/.481 and finishing as the runner-up for the National League Rookie of the Year Award.

It was a challenging journey for the third baseman to reach that level of success again, but in 2024, things started falling into place once more.

Bohm batted .280/.332/.448, which, although lower than his .881 OPS in 2020, marked a significant improvement from his .715 OPS between 2021 and 2023.
