Parting with Bohm would be tough for Philadelphia, but it seems like a step they are prepared to take.

The third baseman is coming off his first All-Star season, where he achieved a .280/.332/.448 slash line with 15 home runs and 97 RBI.

He led the team in doubles and was second in RBI, so they would need to find someone to match his production.

The problem is that he hit a slump in August and continued to struggle in the postseason.

While the Phillies can mostly compensate for the loss at third base, they cannot allow center field to remain as ineffective as it was last year.

The players who played there combined for a .243/.291/.353 slash line with nine home runs and 60 RBI.

Bellinger is earning a substantial salary of $27.5 million, which is significant for the Cubs' needs, but for a Philadelphia team determined to win a championship, they are willing to pay that amount if he can produce results.

The 29-year-old's career has seen a resurgence in Chicago.

He has achieved a .286/.340/.475 slash line over the past two seasons, averaging 22 home runs and 88 RBI.

If he can bring that performance to the Phillies, it would significantly enhance an already formidable lineup.

The Philadelphia Phillies face significant challenges before they can become genuine World Series contenders again, with the most pressing being the need to address the offensive void in center field.

Speculation has been rampant about the Phillies targeting various center fielders since the last season began, with Chicago Cubs star Cody Bellinger frequently mentioned.

Bellinger, a former MVP, has experienced some struggles throughout the year but offers a high offensive potential and solid defensive skills.

ESPN's David Schoenfield proposed a bold three-team trade involving the Cubs and Seattle Mariners that would finally bring Bellinger to Philadelphia.

In this trade, the Phillies would acquire Bellinger, while third baseman Alec Bohm would move to the Mariners. Seattle would also gain second baseman Nico Hoerner. Chicago would receive right-handed pitcher Luis Castillo and catching prospect Harry Ford.

On paper, this appears to be one of those rare three-team trades that could satisfy all parties involved.
