Drummond was making his 11th start of the season. Signed to be a competent center option when Embiid inevitably misses time, Drummond got off to a rocky start this season. He’s been much better as of late and sharing the court more with Guerschon Yabusele, forming a physical, strong-rebounding frontcourt.
With Drummond out, head coach Nick Nurse turned to rookie Adem Bona. Bona, the team’s 2024 second-round pick out of UCLA, is long and athletic but very raw. Still, he’s looked solid during his limited NBA time this season.
The Sixers are without Embiid (left knee injury management), Kyle Lowry (right hip strain) and Caleb Martin (upper back soreness). Paul George, who missed the previous three games after hyperextending his left knee (again), made his return to the lineup.
The Sixers didn’t need another injury, but here we are.
Andre Drummond, starting in place of Joel Embiid, rolled his ankle early in the Sixers’ road matchup with the Detroit Pistons Saturday night. The veteran big man did not return to the game with what the team is calling a right ankle sprain.
Around the 8:32 mark of the first quarter, Drummond was able to tip in a Tyrese Maxey missed layup. As Drummond is coming down, his foot lands on former Sixer Tobias Harris’. Drummond went down immediately and looked to be in a great deal of pain, causing the officials to stop play.
He limped to the locker room with the help of the athletic training staff, putting no weight on the ankle.

Sixers center Andre Drummond will likely miss sometime with an ankle injury.
