The Sixers have been dreadful this year, with McCain often being pointed to as the lone beam of hope. Following an initial possibility of his needing some time in the G League, McCain has already surpassed all expectations set for him at the beginning of the year. Moving forward, McCain will have to adapt as the Sixers get their key players back. Most recently, he was moved back into a bench role against the Detroit Pistons.
His role may fluctuate moving forward, but it’s clear the Sixers made the right choice selecting him 16th overall in the 2024 Draft. While his defense and playmaking are still developing, McCain’s advanced offensive skills and maturity on the court make him a valuable asset who’s likely to remain a fixture in the rotation for the foreseeable future.
Jared McCain has openly shared that winning Rookie of the Year is one of his personal goals—and with the way he’s performing, he’s well on his way to making it a reality.
