He certainly needs to work on his positioning to become a better rebounder — there were a few possessions where the Pacers grabbed multiple offensive rebounds — but the way he switches out to the perimeter can also have an impact on that.
Foul trouble was an issue for him as well as he picked up his fifth early in the fourth quarter. Most nights it is fine to let him foul through his troubles but that gets trickier when you have the minimum number of players available.
Grade: A-
Ricky Council IV
Like most of the team, it was a solid start for Council who hit some shots early. He also had a really nice chasedown block in transition. He drastically cooled off, not making another field goal until the end of the fourth. He also got beat off the dribble a fair bit when the Pacers made their comeback.
Grade: C-
Jared Butler
Again, Butler played a big role in getting out to that early lead. His shot was falling all night as he finished 6-of-12 from the field. He didn’t really look to find Bona on lobs at all really. He finished with four turnovers, a couple of which were not his fault by any means. Still, it feels like he can’t give the ball away in a normal fashion. They somehow always look cartoony.
Grade: B
Guerschon Yabusele
Even if he wasn’t used to the shorter season in Europe, the workload Yabu’s had this year would wear anyone down. He knocked down a three early in the first quarter but didn’t get another field goal to fall. Still, he gave tremendous effort on the glass with a team-high 15 rebounds. No matter how bad things have gotten this year he’s never stopped hustling.
Grade: C+
Alex Reese
It was a quiet night for Reese who was still dealing with a lingering shoulder injury he picked up in Toronto. He only took one shot in the first half before knocking down a three and cutting for a layup in the second.
A lot of Reese’s impact has come playing off Bona defensively but they were forced to be staggered a bit more in this game. Still he was effective, finishing with two blocks and a steal. He just seems to be in the right place most of the time.
Grade: B
Jalen Hood-Schifino
It’s not surprising that it took him a few minutes to get his feet under him. All of his points came in the second half. He got a little bit of runway to create in the third and made some good things happen. He likes to get inside the left elbow for a midrange which he looked for quite a bit.
Grade: B-
Oshae Brisset
Brisset also needed some time to find his bearings — after all he wasn’t on the team when he woke up. He had a couple of really nice rotations off the ball, one of which he poked away a steal and the other he slid over to block a shot.
He had a nice stretch offensively when some shots finally started to fall for him. All 14 of his points came in the second half.
Grade: B
A busy month continues as the Sixers head back out on the road. They’ll kick off a six-game trip Sunday when they take on the Dallas Mavericks at 1 p.m. ET in the disaster bowl. The NBA has mercifully flexed that game off of ABC.
Taking into account they were barely able to field a team, that was a pretty solid effort.
The Sixers lost in ethical fashion to the Indiana Pacers Friday night 112-100. Jeff Dowtin Jr. went for a career-high for the second straight game, finishing with 24 points shooting 11-of-20 from the field. Jared Butler went for 17 points while Adem Bona finished with 16.
Pascal Siakam led all scorers with 27.
Quentin Grimes, Kelly Oubre Jr., Andre Drummond and Justin Edwards making it 11 Sixers unable to play because of injury.
A quick note: these recaps are going to take a different form because that’s just the kind of season it’s been. For the rest of the season it’ll be player grades for key performers or in this game’s case, everyone who was able to suit up.
Here are some thoughts from the Center.
Jeff Dowtin Jr.
The definition of picking up right where you left off, Dowtin once again couldn’t miss to start the game as he went for 17 in the first half. His confidence seemed to grow as every floater fell. He opened the second half with a pretty far heat check that just rimmed out.
Grade: A
Adem Bona
Since the team has basically packed it in, no one has been playing better than Bona. Obviously his defense is what comes to mind first. He’s the only center on the roster whose legs work well enough to protect the rim.
He’s shown quite a bit on offense as well. This was his fourth straight game scoring in double figures. He’s getting more comfortable getting up baby hooks, and his touch on those shots isn’t bad. He broke out the fake dribble handle again for a big dunk down the lane.

Jeff Dowtin Jr had another career night with 24 points in the Sixers' loss to the Pacers.
