"If the Eagles consider upgrading their backup QB next spring, they could do much worse than a player who can at least keep drives moving with his legs and rely on a star-studded supporting cast. Moreover, we know GM Howie Roseman enjoys tweaking a divisional rival when the opportunity arises."

Philadelphia has certainly observed Jones closely during divisional matchups. Jone and the Giants parting ways is far from a surprise and at just 27 years old, a team will likely take a chance on him. He had previously been signed a four-year, $160 million deal with the Giants and will clearly earn less if he signs elsewhere.

The New York Giants made a significant decision this week.

Following weeks of speculation, New York benched Daniel Jones, a former first-round pick. Jones had been with the team since 2019, and it has been a rocky tenure that ended this week after the team released him at his own request.

Chris Landers from FanSided compiled a list of four teams that might consider giving Jones a chance to "salvage" his career, surprisingly including the Philadelphia Eagles.

"Speaking of accommodating environments for athletic quarterbacks. Jones isn't quite the athlete that Hurts is — very few quarterbacks are — but their profiles are broadly similar," Landers commented. "He's certainly closer to Hurts as a player than the Eagles' current backup, Kenny Pickett, who should not be a viable solution for any serious contender. Jones is big, mobile, and throws a decent deep ball, with plenty of experience in an RPO-heavy scheme.
