It simply wasn't the Eagles' week. Star quarterback Jalen Hurts suffered a concussion during the game, and safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson was ejected for "taunting."
After the game, Gardner-Johnson took to social media to address his ejection, and head coach Nick Sirianni also commented on the situation on Tuesday during an appearance on 94WIP SportsRadio.
"We want our guys to have fun, show their personality, but do it all within the confines of the rule," Sirianni stated. "Obviously, we overstepped."
This response from Sirianni was quite measured. The ejection of Gardner-Johnson was unexpected, and there was a limited explanation provided afterward.
Despite the setbacks, the Eagles can move forward. They will aim to return to winning ways on Sunday, Dec. 29, when they face off against the Dallas Cowboys.
The Philadelphia Eagles did not achieve the desired outcome this past weekend against the Washington Commanders.
Facing the Commanders on the road on Sunday, Philadelphia's impressive 10-game winning streak came to an end. The Eagles entered the NFC East clash with an opportunity to secure the division title and reach their 13th victory of the season, but unfortunately, things did not go as planned.
With a final score of 36-33, the Eagles dropped to 12-3. However, there is no significant cause for concern. The team can still clinch the division with wins in their next two games and could easily secure the No. 2 seed in the NFC playoffs.
