The team has a decision to make with regards to who is coming up with September roster expansion and it looks like that decision has been made.
The two moves make sense. Alec Bohm has been hurting a bit, so adding a bit of infield depth in Clemens will let the team take a more cautious approach to his returning to the field. Phillips makes the most sense to come up as a starter, even if he has struggled both with the Phillies and in Lehigh Valley. He’ll be the fifth starter right now, though how long his starts will last is still a matter of debate.
The team will probably make an official announcement later on today before they’re activated.
September roster expansion is here....and so is Jose Alvarado!
Jose Alvarado had something to deal with back home in Venezuela, something he is understandably not willing to divulge and is now back with the team. Sometimes, we have to remember that perceived struggles on the field might have a root cause. We cannot know if what was happening with Alvarado back in his home country was the issue, but it had to have been weighing his mind. Good to have him back.

Jose Alvarado has returned to the Phillies after a brief stint on the restricted list due to personal reasons.
